CO2 vs ethanol extraction
These are the two extraction methods that dominate the industry. CO2 extraction uses pressurized carbon dioxide as a solvent — it leaves no solvent residue and is considered the cleanest method, but the equipment is expensive, which is why small brands outsource it. Ethanol extraction uses food-grade alcohol: cheaper and faster, but the solvent must be fully purged in later steps. Both feed into the same winterization and distillation pipeline, and both can produce isolate that meets the same purity and 0% THC standards.
Isolate vs distillate vs full spectrum
